Who we are
Wittering United Football Club was founded in 1946 and has long been a staple of local football, representing the area in various Leagues over the decades. The club has competed in the West Sussex Sunday Football League, the Arun & Chichester District Football League, and several others throughout our existence. Most notably, our Saturday side cemented its place in the West Sussex Football League in the late 1950s, and has remained stalwarts of the League ever since.
The club boasts an impressive history, with 17 honours in the WSFL alone; the most recent being a Division 1 Title in 2012-13. However, its crowning achievement remains the Sussex Junior Cup victory in 1983, a moment that cemented Wittering United’s place in local football history.
After running continuously from 1946 to 2016, the club was sadly forced to close its doors after folding mid-season. But football in the Witterings wasn’t gone for long. With dedication and hard work, Wittering United was rebuilt from the ground up, returning stronger than ever. Since its revival, the club has enjoyed four promotions in six years, climbing to the WSFL Premier Division and re-establishing itself as a competitive force.
Now playing their games at a new home, Bracklesham Barn, Wittering United continues to grow, with ambitions to add more honours to its proud history.
